UN admits Syria airdrop failure

 
 

The day after the UN's first airdrop into Syria, the World Food Programme said that only 4 of the 21 aid pallets it dropped into the besieged city of Deir Ezzor had made it to their intended destination, and even those packages were damaged because of failed parachutes.

First UN Syria airdrop lands in trouble

 
 

Only a few hours after UN aid chief Stephen O'Brien told the UN Security Council that a 21-ton World Food Programme airdrop had successfully been made to the besieged Syrian city of Deir Ezzor Wednesday, the WFP said something had gone wrong and local activists said the aid was either damaged on landing or fell wide of its mark.
