I do not see any good news in that project, since the project will not address the sanitation problem in Kigali City and its suburbs especially the environment hazard caused by the Nduba landfill.

This is indeed another wisheful project that may never get to completion under the current regime in Rwanda, just like the overdue rail road project, mostly owing to the rampant corrution at the high levels of the administration.

According to KTpress, the first phase of the Kigali Central Sewarage System will be the construction of a central sewerage system that will collect waste from the Central Business District (CBD), Nyarugenge sector and Muhima sector.

Kagame doesn't care about the well being of the Rwandan people. All he care about is money. That's why business areas in Kigali City (Nyarugenge&Muhima) are given preferential treatments compared to residential areas!

The KT Press article, has not a single word on how this projet will address the environmental hazard caused by the Nduba Landfill. It istead emphasizes on those potential customers who will be obliged to pay for the sewage service.

The environmental hazard caused by the lack of a centralized sewage dyestem in Kigali City:

The best description of the horrible sewage situation in Kigali City came from the Auditor General who concluded as follows in 2016:

"As of June 2013, more than 300 tons of solid waste are collected every day and dumped to the unsanitary landfill located in Nduba Sector, Gasabo District. Nduba Landfill has not been developed to address the environmental and public health treats that caused the re-location from Nyanza dumpsite. The method of waste disposal at Nduba landfill is still the same as that used at Nyanza and hence pauses the same health risks. For the liquid waste (sewage), there is no system to receive and treat the sewage emptied from septic tanks from different parts of the City. They are deposited into pits at Nduba site and as of today they have become like small lakes (ponds) of sewage. Disposal methods used at Nduba still expose CoK to environmental and health hazards."
